On Mayhill Farm, we are blessed with some incredible old Red Alder. Their leaves usually come down first but the alder by the barn holds on a bit. Perhaps because it is sheltered . . .

She began to come around our porch just to eat but would run with any approach. It is not so easy to trap ferrel cats and we never had any luck. . . .

Ramish Perfume
In the fall there's a smell on the farm
that the ewes find as some sort of charm
it's a ramish perfume
that will make the girls croon . . .
